I’m excited to be writing for Boroughs Publishing Group. My experience with them has been such a positive experience. They are so knowledgeable about the editing and publishing phases of putting out a great novel.
When I was in my early twenties I noticed that my grandmother spent her spare time reading romance novels, I asked her why she had chosen the genre. At the time my grandfather was dying of cancer. She told me that the novels helped her escape for a few moments they took her out of the pain of losing her husband of fifty years, if only for a few moments. The romances let her travel to places throughout the world, places that she may never see in her lifetime. She also explained that they allowed her to fall in love with handsome men without pissing grandpa off!
I read my first romance novel that year and have been reading ever since. Eight years after my grandpa passed away, my grandma became ill and I was assigned the task of gathering what she would need for her stay in the hospital. As I was packing up her things, I noticed a half-read novel on her nightstand. I took the book to her, but grandma was too ill to read so I began to read it to her. This gave her something to look forward to daily. It was an escape that she desperately needed. When we finished that book we read many others. In this bonding experience granddaughter and grandmother were able to travel the world together to beautiful places and we fell in love with the same gorgeous men. It was during those months that I decided to write romances. I thought if I can help someone escape for a couple of hours from the pain or boredom in their lives, or help them see and feel a world of love and beauty that would be a worthwhile contribution to humanity.
My message in each of my books is hope. Hope that there’s someone just right for each of us. Hope that even in our darkest hour there is light just around the corner. And hope that even if life circumstances keep you from a great relationship, you can dream and love and smile.
The Auction is about a woman who buys back her ex-husband at a bachelor auction for a week. Set in a cozy cottage during a wintery week in Park City, Utah, events will take place that reshape their lives in unimagined ways. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had writing it. Enjoy!
